Ayia Napa Ayia Napa's major attraction is its nightlife with lots of bars,
shops and restaurants all beside a beautiful sandy beach. It offers great restaurants, bars and discos in "The Square"
during the summer months, which are ideal for late nights out. In low season the atmosphere is more relaxed and there is a
smaller choice of bars and restaurants.
Pernera nr. Protaras Located on the outskirts of
Protaras, Pernera has developed over the years into a coastal resort in its own right, with its own distinct identity and
charm and is the ideal choice for a beach holiday with a good selection of bars, restaurants and shops. Pernera is also a
small working fishing harbour. The main town of Protaras is only 2.2km away and is served by regular buses for those who wish
to venture further afield.
Nissi Bay Nissi Bay is located a few kilometres west of the harbour
of one of Cyprus' most popular resorts, Ayia Napa. Nissi Bay has a beautiful golden sand beach with clear azure waters
in the Mediterranean sea. This hot spot close to Ayia Napa is ideal for active families and groups who can relish in the resorts
fantastic watersports and diving opportunities. There are also varied bars and restaurants offering a wide selection of food
and drink in resort.
Beaches Cyprus is renowned for its blue flag beaches...with plenty of
watersports centres on the sands, and cafes and tavernas behind them, the bays around Ayia Napa and Limassol are legendary.
Limassol has long sweeps of dark, sandy beaches, while the best of Paphos beaches are on the outskirts of the resort.
Places to see Nicosia is a sight in itself, encircled by strong fortress walls from the 16th century.
Limassol's sights include Kolossi Medieval Castle, the ancient cities of Amathus and Curium. There are also the Tomb of
the Kings in Paphos, the birth place of Aphrodite and of course the spectacular Troodos mountains.
Eating
out Make a meal of a Meze taster servings of specialities like stuffed vine leaves, Moussaka, spiced meatballs
and savoury dips. Enjoy a light lunch of horiatiki salad and grilled halloumi cheese. Leave plenty of room for a baklava pastry
stuffed with nuts and soaked with honey, then enjoy a light wine, beer or liqueur all having being produced locally.
Shopping Lace from the village of Lefkara, arts, exquisite jewellery, basket work, pottery, leather
goods and silverware are all good buys among local crafts and are available in most resorts. Larnaca, Limassol and Nicosia
all have city style shopping too for great value prices on porcelain, perfume, crystal, cameras, spectacles and clothing.
Nightlife Ayia Napa in summer needs no introduction, Protaras, too, has enough pubs and bars
to be pretty lively in the high season, and Limassol's tourist area has plenty of music bars and discos that stay open
well into the early hours. Paphos has a thriving nightlife too down Bar Street with its numerous pubs, themed bars and discos.
In general, the length of the resorts means there's always a quieter area for a leisurely evening venue too.
Getting around Bus services along the southern coastal route are available - especially between Larnaca
and Limassol. Away from this main highway, local routes can be painfully slow but cheap and cheerful. Traffic drives on the
left, and car hire is a comfortable and convenient mode of transport for island exploration.
